VALE Keith (Kit) Simons

26/08/1933 – 4/03/2019

It is with deep regret that I inform members of the untimely passing of Adelaide Masters long time Member, Kit Simons.

Kit was a much loved character who joined Adelaide Masters in 1976 and was elected Vice President in 1979. Then in 1981 Kit was elected President a position he held for two and a half years and during this period was the Club Delegate on the Branch Council. No holding the man down, Kit was on the organising committee for the 1980 National Championships held here in Adelaide.

In 1984 Kit was elected to the State Branch Executive.  He worked as coordinator of Interclub Meets, State Cups and Long Swims for a few years, and became the first State Branch Carnival Director.  He was on the committee and Carnival Director for 1986 Nationals in Adelaide, the 1989 Australian Masters Games and the 1994 Nationals in Adelaide.

Kit retired from the State Branch after the 1994 Nationals.  He continued to assist the Branch with pool and open water swims.  In 1997, Kit was the swimming organiser for the first SA Regional Masters Games.

In appreciation for his 14 years of service to Masters Swimming SA Branch Keith Simons was awarded MSSA Life Member Membership.

The Masters Swimming SA Community sends our deepest condolences to his lovely wife, Diana and his family.

Dear Kit will be sadly missed!
