2024 MSSA Open Water Swim Championships Summary
The 13th annual MSSA Open Water Swim Championships were held at Somerton Beach on 14 January. Conditions were near perfect with a light offshore breeze, relatively flat seas, and very clear water. There were 163 entries (155 swam), close to a record for this event. The full and final results are HERE

The overall Female and Male winners in the 3 km event were Leila Nazimi (SHB) and Jaylen Atkins (Swimming SA) while the 1km winners were Emilie Goldie (SAM) and Mark Preiss (SAO).
Team Trophies were hotly contested with Marion winning the Aggregate Points Trophy (ahead of Adelaide Masters and Phoenix) while Adelaide Masters won the Average Points per Swimmer Trophy (just ahead of Phoenix and Uni SA).
Golden Marlin trophies for completing 10 Marion swims were presented Anita Blackmore (STT), Heather Carbone (SMR), Philip Gray (SWD), Natalie Hann (SAT), Sam McKinley (SPO), Barry Payne (SHB), Roger Pearce (SMR), Mark Trenwith (SMR), Deb Wareing (SMR) while Denys Smith (SHB) and Ian Young (SMR) were presented with 20-year awards.
The Barb Pearce Trophy, awarded to the oldest female to complete all open water swims in the 2022-23 Open Water Series was presented to Eithne Mayton (STT), age 72
